Cosmetic Dentistry, the evolution and comfort on the aesthetic demand

Facial aesthetics is becoming more and more popular all around the world. Cosmetic dentistry has been one of the centrepieces for most dental practices due to the high demand of today's society.

Nowadays, composite resins perform better and are more aesthetic than ever before, and teeth whitening can be done in less than one hour. It is part of Cosmetic dentistry to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles with facial aesthetics. Such treatments aim to offer a non-surgical treatments way of reducing the signs of ageing on the face. The wrinkle reduction, known as ‘botox’, relaxes muscles and reduces the appearance of wrinkles from underneath the surface of the skin.  ‘Botox’ is used to prevent and reduce lines and wrinkles which appear as frown lines between the eyes, forehead lines and the so-called ‘crows feet'.

Restoring facial volume with dermal fillers is also an option. It acts in the soft tissues of the face. Dermal fillers have been accepted by patients worldwide as a correction of this ageing process for a reasonable cost, immediate effects and ease of delivery.

The effects of dermal filler therapy can last up to 18 month and the choice of the material depends on the areas to volumise or correct. It is essential to know which material should be used so that’s why is so important to choose the right professional to such procedures. Some dental treatments can be much more invasive than a dermal filler therapy.

Gummy smiles are similarly treated through Cosmetic dentistry. Depending on the dentist's analysis, you could have a same-day laser treatment (in minor cases), a surgical lip repositioning or even braces, in order to move the teeth into more suitable positions. There are other procedures that could be more traumatic, such as the surgical sculpting of the gingival tissues and bone, to create healthier and more attractive looking gum contours, and the maxillofacial surgery to reposition the bone.
